Mt. Rushmore National Memorial

Doane Robinson is credited with the idea of carving some president's faces in the granite of the Black Hills to promote tourism. In 1927 Gutzon Borglum was contacted to carve the faces. He was picked because of his success at Stone Mt. Georgia with the Confederate Memorial.
